Grindr SMS Verification — Receive Your OTP Code
Grindr asks email sign-ups to verify by SMS as an anti-spam step, and allows up to five accounts per number. Signival gives you a temporary number to receive that OTP without using your personal SIM. Pay in Naira or crypto.
If you sign up for Grindr with an email address and password, Grindr asks you to verify your account by SMS. It sends a one-time password (OTP) to your phone, and Grindr says the number is used for that verification purpose only. If you would rather keep your personal SIM off the account, Signival gives you a temporary phone number that receives the Grindr SMS verification code and shows it in your dashboard.
Grindr is used by people for whom privacy is a safety matter, so it helps to be clear about what a temporary number does and does not protect. This guide explains when Grindr asks, how many accounts a number can verify, how to receive a Grindr OTP with Signival, and what to do if the code does not arrive.
Why Grindr Asks for Your Phone Number
Grindr says SMS verification is an important anti-spam measure. Its help describes the SMS step for accounts created with an email and a password, which you complete through the prompts on screen. Accounts created through Facebook, Google or Apple use that third-party login as their credentials.
Grindr says it uses phone numbers for this verification purpose only, does not share them with marketing companies, and does not send any texts to the number other than the one-time code.
The number can matter later too. Grindr’s help says resetting a forgotten password by phone number only works if the account was created using a phone number, while accounts created with an email reset by email. Keep your email under your control either way.
When Grindr Asks You to Verify
Signing up with email and password
Grindr asks you to verify by SMS as part of creating the account. You follow the prompts on screen and enter the code it texts you.
Getting back in after you log out
If you log out and cannot remember your password, Grindr lets you verify with an email or a phone number. The phone route only works if the account was created with a phone number.
A code you did not ask for
Grindr warns that if you receive a code you did not request, or someone asks you to send them your code, you should not share it. They are trying to use your number to verify their own account.

Can a Temporary Number Receive Your Grindr OTP?
An OTP number is a temporary phone number, sometimes called a virtual number, that receives text messages without a SIM in your phone. For Grindr it can receive the SMS code when you verify an email-and-password account.
Grindr says your number must be compatible with its SMS system, and that if it is not you will need another number. In the help we checked, it does not publish rules about virtual or VoIP numbers. A temporary number that receives SMS can complete the route, but Grindr runs its own checks.
Grindr also says a maximum of five accounts can be verified with any one phone number. A rented number that has already verified accounts on Grindr may hit that limit, so treat each rental as single-use.
A temporary number keeps your personal SIM off the account, but it does not make the account anonymous. Your email address, device, photos and location can still identify you, and in some countries being gay is criminalised, so think about the whole account, not just the number.

Tips for Receiving Your Grindr SMS Code
- Enter the country code and area code. Grindr says to enter your area code before the number if your region has one. A wrong code is the most common reason the SMS does not arrive.
- Do not stack attempts. Repeated attempts in a short time can trigger errors. Request the code once and wait.
- Never share the code. Grindr warns against sending your code to anyone. People who ask for it are trying to use your number to verify their own account.
- Think about the whole account. A temporary number protects your SIM, not your identity. Use a separate email, check what your photos and location reveal, and review Grindr’s privacy settings.
- Use an email you control. Grindr resets a forgotten password by email for email accounts. Keep that email safe, because a rented number will not be there for recovery.
If Your Grindr OTP Code Does Not Arrive or Is Rejected
You see “Invalid phone number”
Check the country code, area code and number first. Grindr says the number may not be compatible with its SMS system, and the only way to complete verification is a valid number. Cancel and try a number from another country.
The SMS does not arrive
Wait through the activation window and request the code once. If nothing arrives within 5 minutes, cancel for a refund.
You see “Phone number used too many times”
Grindr says a maximum of five accounts can be verified with one phone number. Cancel and rent a fresh number.
You received a code you did not request
Do not share it and do not enter it. Grindr says someone may be trying to verify their own account with your number.
You lose access later
A rented number expires. Recover through the email on the account, and make sure that email is one you control.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I receive a Grindr OTP code without my personal number?
Fund your Signival wallet in Naira or with cryptocurrency, choose Grindr and a country in your dashboard, and enter the temporary number you are given into Grindr’s phone field. Can I get a free OTP number for Grindr?
Signival numbers are paid, starting from 150 naira. A free public number is shared by many people, so it may already be used on Grindr, which allows at most five accounts per number, and anyone can read the code sent there. For an account where privacy matters, that is a risky choice.

Can I reset my Grindr password by phone?
Only if the account was created using a phone number. Accounts created with an email reset by email.
What happens if my Grindr OTP code does not arrive?
